  • Background of construction
    • An unmanned lighthouse was constructed and operated since October 1915; however, due to the large number of islands surrounding the lighthouse and the more than 1,500 hours of foggy weather annually, a manned lighthouse with greater illuminating power to ensure the safety of ships operating between Busan/Jeju ?†” Incheon/Mokpo was required. Hence, Gasado lighthouse was changed into a manned lighthouse in 1984.
  • Structure and characteristics of the lighthouse
    • Structure : A white octagonal concrete structure with a straight ladder from the lower portion of the lighthouse to the lantern installation platform and an additional ladder outside the lighthouse.
    • Characteristics : Height of the lighthouse is 17m, and the lighthouse?€™s summit is 76m from mean sea level.
